Hi...

After seeing an article indicating problems with Blowfish & the JDK1.1.6
jit, I thought I would pass this along:

I've written a little program that messes about with MD5 hashes, and I
came up against something very strange: The hashes turn out as expected on
most JVM's, but on the Microsoft IE4 VM, the wrong hash sometimes comes
out. The error is sporadic, it does not occur for all hashes, and it only
occurs on the IE JVM.

Here are the results I have so far:

Linux jdk1.1.3: OK
Linux jdk1.1.5: OK
Netscape 4.04j2 (for Linux): OK
Netscape 4.04 with AWT1.1 for Windows: OK
IE4: Fail

Does anyone have any idea why this occurs? If asked, I'll be happy to
e-mail the program to people, so they can try it out on other VM's.

The program uses the MD5 implementation by Santeri Paavolainen, which can
be obtained from

Bye
Nir
