Well, none of my current machines are in a position to run FreeBSD
for lack of HD space. One of the things that I keep hoping to do
is to get a new machine to run FreeBSD .. after that, I'd consider
looking to port any work I get done for linux to FreeBSD..

If you have the energy to do the port, and know FreeBSD's filesystem
structure well, I'd be happy to discuss structuring the whole scheme
for ease of porting to FreeBSD..

Though, to tell you the truth, it would be a rare twist of fate if
_porting_ linux ext2 patches to FreeBSD were worth the effort. I
suspect it would be easier just to write encryption code into FreeBSD
from the ground up.
