Well, before being "the only", it will have first to be written, then to
compete with what exists.
For the license, yep, there is the problem of some files being
BSD+Advertising; it might be a good idea to ask the question on
debian-legal@lists.debian.org; it's possible that the offending file
(gp-tt-t1.[ch]) has been subsequently relicensed under BSD-Adv or LGPL (I
don't know for sure). It looks like most files are licensed under LGPL, but
the Debian Package copyright file advertises only plain GPL license (might
be an error -- maybe you could also contact Christian Marillat?).
