GtkList GtkTree

Are we moving away from GtkList and toward GtkTreeView?
I just noticed GtkList is deprecated:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/GtkList.html
and it is advised to move to GtkTreeView instead:
http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/TreeWidgetObjects.html

I'd better write any new code using the GtkTreeView, and leave all existing 
code to be cleaned up later, right?
