I think the cryptix people may be working on this... check out
www.systemics.com, or send mail to I.Brown@cs.ucl.ac.uk for an update.

hear, hear!

I think cryptix is not GPL, but it has a nice free license. I expect
the licensing details can be found on systemics.com.

Another approach you could take is the c2java compiler (do a web
search for 'c2java' -- it's on a Russian web site). It is supposed to
take C code and convert it to java. They claim to have tried this
with pgp2.x. Perhaps you would have some success with Werner Koch's
(GPLed) GNUPG, which supports some of pgp5.x. GNUPG (as of 0.0.0, not
looked at more recent versions) does not support IDEA or RSA, so there
goes pgp2.x compatibility, from it's readme:

Due to the fact that G10 does not use use any patented algorithm,
it cannot be compatible to old PGP versions, because those use
IDEA (which is worldwide patented) and RSA (which is patented in
the United States until Sep 20, 2000). I'm sorry about this, but
this is the world we have created (e.g. by using proprietary software).

tho' there appears to be a bit of RSA stuff inside HAVE_RSA_CIPHER
#ifdefs.

If you got this to work (GNUPG stuffed through c2java) I and probably
others would be interested in the results!
